The boffins who wrote the manual for the Willys Jeep in the early 1940's weren't joking when they recommended disconnecting the fan belt before fording deep water. The result of not heeding basic advice on this outing was an engine bay drenched by fan blades dipping their toes in the drink. The spark plugs live on top of this seventy one year old side valve "Go Devil" engine and are seated in their own cute little potential spa pools. They love to hold water and will short the Champions right the hell out on ya. A smoke, a toweling off and a little residual engine temperature were enough to get us underway again.
The Danish Newscasters were not wearing suitable footwear for any kind of long haul on Shanks' so it was kinda imperative I got the little chap going.
